You may try using a potato poultice, which is a warm compress to reduce the inflammation of the affected skin. Boil two potatoes (with skin) until soften and mash them. Then spread the mash potatoes on a cheesecloth and cover with another. Apply the poultice on the affected area and wrap with a cloth or towel and clean up after it become cold. You may also left it overnight if apply before bedtime.

 

Garlic

Garlic is one of the most essential and useful herbs. Many people who try garlic home remedies before attest to its effectiveness in treating acne. The primary ingredient of garlic called alliin is actually odorless. The actual compound which have a lot of health benefits and strong smell is allicin, which is converted from alliin when a garlic is crushed.

Besides external application, consuming raw garlic or garlic supplements may help cleaning the blood stream and thus preventing acne breakouts too.  You can mix minced raw garlic with other food, such as cottage cheese or yogurt and eat them. If you can't stand the strong smell, you may consider taking garlic supplements.

 

Tomato

Tomato is high in Vitamin A and C as well as antioxidants which is useful for treating acne. Its acidic content helps in removing oil and bacteria on the skin. Apply tomato juice concoction is an effective way. Mix 1 tablespoon of tomato juice with 1 teaspoon of lime juice and apply using cotton ball to the affected area,  let it for 15 minutes and then wash away.

You may try using tomato pulp for acne treatment. Mash a tomato and make it into tomato pulp and apply all over your face and let it for 1 hour. Then clean with water and dry. Continue doing this remedy for a week will help eliminating your acne.

 

Cucumber

Put half cucumber and a small lime (both cut into small pieces) into a blender, add in egg white from an egg, 1 teaspoon of turmeric and half teaspoon of ginger and blend until all combined. Put the mixture onto your face as cucumber mask for about 15 minutes, then wash off with water and dry up. You may keep unused portion in the fridge and use within 3 days.

 

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been extensively used in skin care. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that helps in reducing inflammation due to acne breakouts. You can make acne face mask using Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera face mask is suitable for all skin types. It is natural and will not harm your delicate skin. For best results, it should be applied frequently, at least once a week.

To prepare the face mask, what your need is one piece of Aloe Vera leaf, honey and some water. First, cut Aloe Vera into small pieces and simmer in 500ml of boiled water for 15 minutes. Sieve the mixture and discard the Aloe Vera pieces. Then add in 3 tablespoons of honey and stir well and let it cool to room temperature. Apply the solution evenly to your face once it is cool enough and let it there for 15 minutes. Then, clean your face using mild facial cleanser too remove all the residue as any residue remain on your skin may cause skin irritation and lead to acne breakouts.

 

Lemon

Lemon juice is very high in vitamin C.  It has a lot of benefits for all types of skin. Lemon juice is a natural exfoliator for our skin as well as an astringent which helps drying the pimples.  It is also a natural skin whitener that may help in reducing redness due to acne. If your would like to use lemon juice for acne remedies, you may do it in two ways, i.e. via topical application and by consuming the lemon juice.

For applying lemon juice topically, soak a piece of cotton ball into freshly extracted lemon juice and apply to the acne spots. You may dilute the lemon juice with a bit of water if there is burning sensation when applying. Rinse off the juice after 10 minutes if you have sensitive skin or leave it overnight if you want a faster result. Repeat this treatment continuously for two weeks to see the result.

If you want to cleanse your body internally, it is best to consume lemon juice as this will allow your body to absorb the essential vitamins of the juice. You may extract the juice from a lemon and mix with two glasses of water and drink it throughout the day. Another way is by drinking lemon juice diluted with warm water in the morning and fast for 30 minutes to allow the cleansing action. This will help clearing up acne from inside.

 

Baking Soda

Baking soda is another great ingredient for acne treatment. It helps cleaning and unclogging skin pores, clearing up bacteria and reducing inflammation and swelling. It can be used for spot treatment, facial mask and also for removing dead skin. However, this treatment may dry up your skin and therefore you may need to apply some moisturizer after the treatment.

For acne spot treatment, mix baking soda with some lemon juice. You will notice bubbles coming out when mixing. Apply the mixture on the pimples or acne spots which you want to dry them up. You will feel tingly when the treatment is working.

Baking soda acne mask helps soothing the inflaming acne areas. For making the mask, add baking soda to cetaphil cleanser to form a thick paste. Apply the mask over the wet face (but avoid the sensitive areas such as eyes and lips) and let it for several minutes before washing away. Do this once a week will be enough.

You can use baking soda paste to clean up skin pores and eliminating dead skin cells. It will kill acne causing bacteria too. Mix baking soda with  a little of water to make a paste to the consistency of toothpaste. Wash face with warm water first before applying. Rub the paste over the wet skin and exfoliate gently and leave for two minutes. Then rinse off well and apply some moisturizer.

 

Ice Cubes

If you want to hide your pimples, do not apply hot compress, try applying ice cubes instead for about 30 seconds a few times a day.  Applying ice cubes to the inflaming acne areas will aid in reducing redness as well as swelling. Washing your face using ice cubes for about 10 minutes will also prevent bacteria from penetrating into the skin pores.  You can wrap the ice cubes in a soft cloth to avoid direct contact with your skin.
